This course provides a basic foundation into the craft of acting to all participants, regardless of experience. Through investigating techniques in script analysis, movement, voice, ensemble, and collective collaboration, students gain skills widely useful in social, business or public speaking situations. Participants are assigned scene-work and/or monologues as a means of personal exploration, and they work closely with the instructor to discover their strengths and challenges as an actor.

Have little to no experience with Adobe design software? This course outlines the fundamentals of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Learn the basics of image resolution, scanning, image import/export, print setup, photo adjustments and vectors, as well as introductory typography and design. You'll gain a better understanding of how these three software programs work together and independently to create products for print and web. Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard for editing raster graphics. This course kicks off with an introduction to its interface, tools and potential application to both web and print. Learn basic techniques for cropping and retouching images as well as for correcting exposure, color and lighting - skills applicable to everything from restoring old photos to manipulating the shot you snapped today. Students also explore more sophisticated features like text, layer and blur effects. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to edit and manipulate photos to create the perfect image or combine multiple images to create an entirely new scene. Aspiring photographers, graphic designers and web designers all benefit from these Photoshop image editing basics. This class satisfies prerequisites for Advanced Adobe Photoshop CC.

In this workshop you will spend the morning learning how to best SELL your material's 'hook' to producers and pitchfests, have a working lunch to develop your pitch, and then get a chance to practice your pitch one-on-one with feedback and critique in the afternoon. To enhance your workshop experience, students are encouraged to attend Lesley Arfin's (wrote for GIRLS) talk about how she sold her new Netflix comedy, LOVE, with Co-Producer Judd Apatow [November 17th @6:30 in UArts Connelly Auditorium].

    In this one-week intensive serves as an introduction to the methods and techniques of modeling, making a mold, casting and finishing a final piece. Learn to prepare an armature, set up the clay, scale the sculpture adn complete the process of modeling in water-based clay. The ablity to structure a modeled form and comprehend how to represent compound volumes are addressed through direct observation. The unique techniques of using silicone as a precise mold-making material are enhanced through discussion and demonstrations.
