You will start with making the simple monsters using basic techniques. In each class session the instructor will demonstrate a new technique and material, which you can incorporate into a new and different character each week. Demonstrations will include character development, sculpting, and surface embellishing. You will also learn mixing techniques to create realistic elements from nature. By the end of ten weeks you will be creating characters and monsters that use all of the techniques to create a miniature environment.

Course Overview

Classes will be broken down into lectures with demonstrations of techniques and sculpting and in-class work, while other weeks will strictly be studio time with one-on- one guidance with the instructor. Students will be required to participate in group critiques as well as a final presentation of their final piece at the end of the workshop. Some lessons will require students to take work home and complete outside of class.
