    Illustrator is a powerful tool that lets artists, illustrators and designers create infinitely scalable vector graphics. Learn how to use the application to create logos and icons, and how to convert drawings to an editable digital format. This course offers a practical overview of Adobe Illustrator's interface, workspace, tools and techniques. You will practice building with shapes, colors, gradients and lines while integrating good use of typography. Skills acquired can be used to design page layouts, website mock-ups or wireframes that add distinction and professionalism to any business or personal project.

    Through a series of applied design projects, this course stresses the importance of typography and design in visual communication. Study basic letterform anatomy, type history, typographic contrast, characteristics of major type families and how to design words, sentences and paragraphs to visually communicate an idea. Develop your ability to create typographic layouts using the dynamics of a grid system as a design tool and to build an effective hierarchy. Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Design, Adobe InDesign or equivalent experience.

    Expand upon your foundations in HTML and CSS by designing and building more complex websites. Coursework builds stronger CSS skills and provides an expanded focus on multi-screen design, UI/UX design, accessibility, site architecture, and the web design process. You will also explore adding interactive elements to your websites using JavaScript and jQuery. Over the course of the class students will create two complete web sites.
