Achieving satisfying and consistent results with digital technology involves much more than simply hitting the "print" button. This workshop covers the fundamentals of image editing, including RAW conversion, localized adjustments and basic elements of process control. Learn how to efficiently approach troubleshooting options.

What will you learn in this course?

  • Learn about file preparation - workflow in LR and PS
  • Understand color management
  • Know how to proof and run printing tests
  • Learn types of digital printing - desk
  • Learn about exhibition preparation
  • Learn about paper stock choices - advantages, and limitations for portfolio of work
  • Learn about print finishing, handling and storage.

What will you do in class?

The class will be broken into three primary sessions each week; lecture, demonstration and work time. Lecture will explain concepts through technical slideshows. Demonstrations will reinforce the concepts discussed during the lectures and the work periods will allow time for the student to practice the material with the instructor for any follow up questions or clarification.


Supplies/Equipment

  • USB drive flash or external with a minimum memory capacity of 2GB
  • Sketchbook (suggested, for notes, planning projects and idea sketching)
  • Inkjet Paper - Each student must purchase their own paper for the class. There’s a variety of paper types and manufacturers to choose from. Instructor will guide you in paper selection process, for example this might be a good choice to start Epson Luster 8.5x11 (25 sheets). Students are encouraged to consider purchasing a several varieties by pairing purchase with other students.
