This course is designed to provide you the opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have learned in the Digital Photography Certificate program. Explore and analyze topics within the discipline of photography to meet your individually defined goals in coordination with and approved by the instructor. Assemble and present your body of work in a portfolio of images appropriate to your professional, educational or personal goals. The course concludes with an exhibition. Prerequisite: For Digital Photography Certificate enrollees only; successful completion of all prerequisite classes is mandatory.

Course Overview

This course is the final course in the Digital Photography Certificate program. You will prepare a body of work that represents your focus for exhibition. In addition, you will prepare an artist’s statement and a short bio that will accompany your exhibition.


What will you learn in this course?

  • How to complete a body of work suitable for exhibition
  • How to prepare an artist’s statement and bio
  • How to prepare an exhibition plan
  • Install an exhibition of your work
  • Prepare copy and select an image for an exhibition postcard

What will you do in class?

Presentation: you will give a brief presentation of 2-3 artists who inspire them; discuss the concept of your work

Written Assignments: one-page artist statement and one-page biographic statement.

Critiques: At least one formal critique at a location to be determined by the instructor; informal critiques throughout term
