This course will explore the constructed photograph, using both street shooting, available light photography, and controlled studio lighting. The primary software environment is Photoshop, but students do not need to be advanced in this software environment to benefit from this class.The technical expertise in photography and Photoshop gained in this course will be valuable in advancing any photographer's work to a professional level in artistic or applied design assignments.

Instructor Bio:

Ben Hirt is a conceptual video artist and designer based out of Brooklyn, New York. Born and raised in Switzerland, Ben discovered his passion for digital imagery and video manipulation at an early age. The medium has since become an important element of his artistic expression.

His professional career in film and television allowed him to work throughout various countries in Europe, before furthering his education at the Rhode Island School of Design [BFA}. Since moving from Providence R.I. to New York City in 2010, Ben has been working as a freelance artist and designer for photographers, motion graphic studios, documentarians and designers.

Ben is currently teaching computer animation as a part time faculty at the Rhode Island School of Design as well as Columbia University.
