Designed for individuals with no or little exposure to Adobe design software. This course provides an overview of the fundamentals of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Topics include image resolution, scanning, importing and exporting images, print setup, photo adjustments and introduction to vectors. Basic typography and design will be addressed. You can expect to gain a better understanding of how these three programs work together to create products for print and web. After this course you will be prepared to explore these programs at a deeper level and have the basic skills to expedite your creative ideas.

We will explore the mediums and techniques possible in the art of animation. Beginning with the fundamentals of hand drawn animation, students will then apply them to numerous animated mediums, from stop-motion, clay and sand, to digital approaches and tools. Various platforms will be discussed and demonstrated to showcase your work.

    In this course students will explore the world of collage by examining shapes, textures, colors, and an assortment of materials. Using traditional collage papers as well as materials such as packaging, advertisements, magazine cut-outs, and found internet imagery, students will learn to "draw/paint" with scissors. The origins and history of collage will be examined, as well as its contemporary uses in the arts. Some additional materials such as painting and drawing may also be incorporated for added effect. This course will complement students of all levels interested in design, media, and the fine arts.

    In this course students will explore color relationships, systems, harmonies, and contrasts. Through hands-on application using acrylic and/or gouache paint students will investigate strategies for working effectively with color. Students will learn to use color to reinforce the principles and elements of design; how color relates to the worlds of fine arts, design, and media; define and implement the vocabulary of color; and complement color knowledge with its involvement in art history. This course is suitable for all skill levels.

    Explore the fundamental principles of digital camera- based image making, with an emphasis on creative applications of technical concepts. Learn how aperture, shutter, and ISO work together to achieve proper exposure and desired artistic effects. This course employs a mixture of lectures, demonstrations, readings, shooting assignments, critiques, and on-location practice. Students must bring their own digital camera with fully manual capabilities; a DSLR is recommended.
