Digital Photography Level II
Now accepting applications for the Digital Photography Level II Certificate. The application deadline is September 15, 2017.
Focused on fine-tuning technical skills and developing photographic vision, the new Digital Photography Level I and Level II programs are a first step for students considering a career in photography – whether you are looking to create work for a company or looking to launch a freelance career.
The Digital Photography Level I Certificate will provide you with the basics to become proficient with your camera and the skills to share and exhibit your images. Digital Photography Level II starts you on the path to enter into this competitive industry. Our students are prepared for the field with an understanding of best practices and solid skills training.
Participants can start with Level II upon completion of Level I or can enter by portfolio review by faculty advisor. The Level II course sequence is a total of 13 credits, in three semesters (Spring, Summer and Fall). All classes meet on campus once a week from 6-9 pm. Students must complete an elective at any time in the program, and in addition, students must attend six guest presentations by professionals in the photography industry. Tuition: $250 - $750 per couse, Fees: $15 - $100 per course.

INTERNATIONAL PHOTO EXCURSION
Join UArts faculty for an exclusive photo excursion to Tuscany, Italy between the Spring and Summer semesters. This option is open to all photography students, and the 3.0 studio elective credits can be used toward the Digital Photography Level II program elective requirement. - Studio Photography + Lighting
Natural light, portable flash, studio lighting, lighting portraits, lighting products, studio photography, low light, Capture I, and tethering.
- Business of Photography
This course serves as an introduction to the business and marketing practices common to photography and emphasizes developing professional objectives based upon careful consideration of the financial, legal, organizational, promotional, interpersonal and ethical practices of photography. Prerequisite: Digital Photography II or equivalent experience. This course is required for Digital Photography students preparing to enter the Capstone.
- Creative Digital Editing for Photographers
Advanced image preparation, working with multiple layers, green screen, and adjusting portraits.
- Studio Elective
3.0 credits, any photography elective course taken at any time during program; elective options include a rotation of courses like: LED Lighting; Billboard Images with the Gigipan; Travel Photography; Fashion/Modeling Photography; Documentary/Street Photo; Experimental Photography; Advanced Photoshop; Color Photography; Extending the Photographic Image; Photo Collage; and Website Portfolio Builder for Artists + Photographers.
- Capstone: Digital Photography
This course is designed to provide you the opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have learned in the Digital Photography Certificate program. Explore and analyze topics within the discipline of photography to meet your individually defined goals in coordination with and approved by the instructor. Assemble and present your body of work in a portfolio of images appropriate to your professional, educational or personal goals. The course concludes with an exhibition. Prerequisite: For Digital Photography Certificate enrollees only; successful completion of all prerequisite classes is mandatory.
