Overview

The emphasis of our certificate program is on professional practices and integrating industry best practices. This program will prepare students for an entry level position in an agency, within a company/brand, or to launch their freelance career. We’ve streamlined the program so students can complete the program in three semesters within one year.


Marketing agencies need staff with both time management and project management skills--the account side addresses working clients and producing client creative briefs (the messaging); the creative side of an agency interprets the brief for campaigns. All of these skills are also necessary for a freelance career. We’ve created a program that exposes students to both the Account + Creative sides of Social Media.

 
Program Structure

All 6 classes in the program meet on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 pm (3 hours) for five weeks; in addition students are required to attend two Thursday evenings each course block from 6-8 pm for a guest speaker (Spotlight Case Study, Brand Side, Creative Brief, Agency Life Presentation) and on the last Thursday of each five week block to present their final projects. Tuition: $600 per course, Fees: $40 per course.

Social media represents one of the most significant changes in consumer media behavior in history, resulting in fundamental shifts in the way marketers communicate and interact with audiences. This course provides practical knowledge to establish objectives and implement strategies towards developing best practices and effective use in your organization. Interactive social media tools are examined, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, mobile apps and blogging. You will develop an understanding of the changing world of social media, considering editorial calendars, appropriate use, social listening, policy and copyright, case studies, website optimization, emerging platforms, resources management and content development. Writing solid copy is essential to any digital marketing strategy. However, traditional copywriting does not always translate effectively to the digital landscape. New marketing channels created by evolving digital technology require new ways of communication. Learn the techniques to develop and create copy for marketing emails, websites, online advertising, social media, blogs and mobile technologies. By the end of the course you'll have completed several pieces of a digital marketing campaign to start building a portfolio. Features a Spotlight Case Study guest speaker and Final Student Presentations.

Learn best practices for digital agency operations--from business development to project management this course offers a comprehensive guide. You will examine all aspects of digital agency operation from finding the right clients and negotiating the best price for your services, to contract writing basics and effectively scheduling and managing project workflow. You will be able to scope potential work, create project tasks and identify and confirm user requirements, including interviewing techniques, and present solutions to common project problems.
