PA Act 48
The Professional Institute for Educators is an approved provider of Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Act 48 professional development credits. All educators certified holding Pennsylvania public school certification including Instructional I and II, Educational Specialist I and II, Administrative, Supervisory, Letters of Eligibility and all vocational certificates are affected by Act 48.
Courses for credit qualify for PA Act 48 credits; non-credit coursework earns activity hours. A three-credit graduate-level course requires additional work and is posted as Act 48 90-hour equivalency.
For credits to post, educators must supply a unique Professional Personnel Identification (PPID) number and also submit an Act 48 Request Form. Educators may log into PDE's Professional Education Record Management System (PERMS) to obtain a PPID and to track credit progress. The Professional Institute for Educators posts Act 48 to the State after final grades for the course have been submitted by the instructor.
