Contemporary Art + Studio Practice in Education
Each spring, the Professional Institute for Educators organizes a workshop providing creative educators with a rich and engaging experience regarding studio practice, featuring a keynote speaker and hands-on studio experiences.
Our thanks to the many teachers who attended the Spring 2012 One-day Workshop for Educators: Contemporary Art + Studio Practice in Education.
This inspiring event featured Keynote Speaker Joe Fusaro, Senior Education Advisor for Art21, with a preview of Art21 season six. Teachers received education guides, learned about Art21, found new frameworks for inquiry and learned a variety of hands-on studio techniques in glass, printing, design and more. It was an amazing day to share meaningful ideas about creative teaching practice.
Art21 - Art in the 21st Century is a PBS documentary series, educational resource, archive and history of contemporary artists. It is broadcast in over 50 countries, with a new season every two years. Art21 is the only series on U.S. television to focus exclusively on contemporary visual art and artists. A nonprofit organization, Art21 makes contemporary art more accessible to the public and documents 21st century art and artists. Their goal is to raise the profile of major players in the world of contemporary art and to encourage creativity. Art:21 was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Artistic and Cultural Programming.
Presented by the University of the Arts Department of Art + Design Education, and the Division of Continuing Studies.
